I no longer personally deliver this presentation. For information about this and related services, contact Mediation Training Institute at Eckerd College. My initial delivery was as keynote speaker for a national mediation conference in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2018.

Everyday Peacemaking
Quelling the Conflicts That Disrupt Our Lives

A speech. A lecture. A discussion. A life skill.

Putting the tools of the professional mediator
into the hands of every person
who seeks better relationships at work and home

Adapted from "The Promise of Mediation," a keynote address
selected by the Professional Speechwriters Association
for publication in Vital Speeches International, September 2018
and nominated for the Cicero Award as the best speech of 2018

Nairobi speech 2018

For general audiences. The Everyday Peacemaking version is intended for all who have a personal or career interest in prevention and early resolution of conflict in families, workplaces, communities, and beyond. Although primarily intended for "everyday people," organizational leaders, human resources personnel, mental health counselors, educators, and many other specialists may find it of professional value. Can be tailored for trade and association events.

For professional audiences. The Promise of Mediation version is intended for mediators, attorneys, and other practitioners in legal and non-legal fields of dispute resolution.

Length: 30-minute and 60-minute versions are available (the longer format is recommended to retain coherence, logical flow, and richer content). Presentation may be followed by Q&A, panel discussion, structured group application of concepts, or other activities as requested by the host.
